Planning your tables rental

Round or rectangular?

A 72-inch round seats ten comfortably and is the classic wedding reception choice — everyone at the table can see each other, and it fills a room evenly. Rectangular banquet tables seat ten as well but suit long family-style runs, head tables, and buffet or gift stations. Many events use both: rounds for guests, rectangles for the head table and service.

Working out how many tables fit

As a rough guide, allow about 100 square feet per round table once you include chairs and walking space around it. A room that lists a 200-person capacity standing will seat considerably fewer at tables. If you send us your venue's dimensions or floor plan, we'll tell you what actually fits before you commit to a count.

Cocktail tables and standing space

Cocktail tables carry the arrival hour and any standing portion of the evening. One per eight to ten guests is generally enough — they're gathering points, not seating. Wooden cocktail tables can be left bare for a warmer look, or dressed with a spandex or poly cover from our linens range.

Sizing linens to your tables

A 90-inch round cloth is the usual pairing for a 72-inch round table, and 54x120-inch rectangular cloths suit standard banquet tables. Getting this wrong is the most common linen ordering mistake — if you tell us your table count and sizes, we'll match the linens for you.
